Every year thousands of Americans suffer from Malaria, West Nile Virus, Zika Virus, Morgellons Disease and many other tropical diseases yet there are no trained personnel and available medicines in pharmacies in the USA to treat these conditions. Also we know that American citizens and foreign nationals may contract tropical diseases and bring them back to the USA and infect other people. Such patients may not get prompt and expert care at this time because most American doctors and health workers are not trained for this. Such patients may die before the diagnosis is made, and before treatment is given because the medicines are not obtainable in local pharmacies across the USA. For example a patient with Cerebral Malaria may die in a few days after presentation, and in the current situation anti-malarials are not available in the local pharmacies and may take days or weeks to get to the patient. This may be too late.  Many more patients are suffering from one tropical disease or another but will never be diagnosed. These patients go from doctor to doctor, and hospital to hospital in the USA, and are labeled with various wrong diagnoses. Such patients will never get appropriate treatment. One such example is Morgellons disease (see Delusional Parasitosis).

Since the US constitution gives all citizens the same right for medical care, do you agree that Tropical Medicine Bill should be passed to authorize the practice of Tropical Medicine as a medical speciality in the USA, and to authorize Hospitals to provide prompt treatment for these patients? Do you agree that medicines needed to treat tropical diseases should be available in the US pharmacies for prompt delivery to patients who need them? If you agree to any of these please click on the link on the home page and register to show your support. We need 35,000 signatures to meet our goal. Join this movement for positive change and save lives. Thanks.
